Archived from the original on 2 April Child of the Prophecy is the story of Sorcha’s sister’s child by her beloved Ciaran, son of the sorceress. While part of me understood, I couldn’t figure out why the family would want to kill her her grandma being the Lady who turned the brothers into swans.

Every read and this was the fourth, I like this one better each time. Johnny, the son of Liadan and Bran, is the titular child of the prophecy upon which the hopes of Sevenwaters lie as they face a perilous time nearing war with the Britons, specifically the Northwoods who neighbor Harrowfield. This sets up a suitab This conclusion of the Sevenwaters trilogy is a bit different from the other two.

Overall, I found this novel dreary and disappointing, but those readers interested in Celtic lore and fans of family sagas and historical romance might give it a try.

For chilv, this original concluding foray into Sevenwaters was a disappointment, sadly lacking in comparison to the beauty that was Daughter of the Forest and the epic that was Son of the Shadows.

Idiot with magic, what a pathetic combo. With an OverDrive account, you can save your favorite libraries for at-a-glance information about availability. Eventually, Fainne is able to carve out her own path and become a strong woman in her own right, but not without overcoming many difficulties. So, If you are a fan of the Celtic myth and folklore, and if you love some angst with your stories, this is a good series to check-out.

Reading this book made me realize how perfect the protagonists of the previous Sevenwaters books were. Iuliet needs to have read Daughter of the Forest and Son of the Shadows before this book. The story is told from the point of view of Fainne, the daughter of Ciaran and Niamh.

But Fainne’s flaws made me dislike aspects of her character. She’s the daughter of Ciaran and Niamh from the previous book, making her the granddaughter of Oonagh, the sorceress out to destroy the Sevenwaters family. The sacred island were taken by marillidr Britons, the prophecy states that it will take a child that was neither of Britain nor or Erin but at the same time both, who is marked by the raven to take the sacred island back.

These books are not necessarily part of the contemporary literary tradition. After an underwhelming second volume, I was nervous about finishing this series well, the original trilogy, anyway.

Child of the Prophecy is the eagerly-awaited follow-up to the winner of marilllier Aurealis Award Son of the Yhe and the international bestseller Daughter of the Forest.

All that are well and definitely give more weight to this work, but in my opinion are not part of a plot that is particularly interesting and inspiring.

Lady Oonagh is still plotting to destroy Sevenwaters and plans to use Fianne to accomplish her evil plan. View all 5 comments. Fainne Beautiful writing, bringing all the threads of joy, jkliet, anger and love found in the Sevenwaters family from books prophecu and 2 together to fulfil the prophecy needed to save the islands of Erin. The Sevenwaters series has strong pagan female characters and is just dripping with Celtic lore. To force Fainne to do this, her grandmother threatens her father with sickness and a slow death.

During their fight, Fainne comes out of hiding, pushed by her grandmother to kill Johnny at this pivotal moment. I purchased Child of the Prophecy at my own expense at audible.

But not for me. One thing I found interesting as I re-read them.

I marjllier care about the characters and what is happening to them, and sadness is just part of their experiences. As someone who left the latter feeling more than a little disappointed and was prepared to feel the same way from this installment, Child of the Prophecy proved to be a pleasant surprise.

No I love you’s or even “I was wrong and Chilx sorry I treated you so badly. Is this infant’s father to be a crab, or a seagull maybe? I will have to re read Daughter of the Forest and write a review for it, but in the meantime I will attempt to convey how absolutely wonderful it was and why this series touched me so.

Open Preview See a Problem? A Tale of Sevenwaters ” ” Flame of Sevenwaters ” The only negative to the audio for me is the narrator has a bit of an Irish accent which is appropriate, but she reads really fast and I had a little trouble catching some of it. I was so in love with the first book, that I refused to read the second one for years afterwards, afraid that it was not karillier to be as good and ruin the first book for me.

Fainne comes to Sevenwaters for the first time under the control of her wicked grandmother but finds there, not enemies, but a family like she did not know existed. When she is finally sent to Sevenwaters, Fianne must find her place in both her mothers family and in the prophecy of the old ones, accepting both her heritage and her powers, to take her place in the prophecy.

I found the romance lacking in all departments: At first, she is introduced to us as a dark characterwhat makes us think that she will be the Villain of the story, th as the story unfolds we realise that she is the hero, a really strong, generous and unbelievablly brave girl. If, like me, you’ve been putting off this series under the assumption that this novel is the weak link, let me convince you otherwise; truly, it isn’t.
